Texas Archeological Society
Statewide volunteer group dedicated to the study and preservation of Texas' human past. The Texas Archeological Society (TAS) formed in 1929 and today is made up of some 1500 avocational and professional archeologists. The TAS sponsors annual field schools and an annual meeting, and publishes the Bulletin of the Texas Archeological Society.
Texas Beyond History
Large public education website that interprets and highlights the meaningful results of archeological and historical research on the cultural heritage of Texas. Published by the Texas Archeological Research Laboratory at the University of Texas at Austin in partnership with eight other institutions and organizations, including the Council of Texas Archeologists.
Texas Historical Commission
“The state agency for historic preservation.” As the Texas SHPO (state historic preservation office), the THC (Texas Historical Commission) regulates cultural resource management work (including archeology) in Texas. The THC website has useful information on historic preservation laws and other archeological and historic topics.
